Co-op Availability Data Feed Impact

Summary of the impact of Co-op ceasing their Gap Scan and discontinuing the SKUtrak availability data feed.

Corrections to your Co-op ranging and availability metrics

6th November

Following Co-op removing their ‘gap scan’ metric that was used to calculate availability, we synthesised our own metric which was released in May.

Today, we have released a fix for an error found in how we estimated the approximate number of stores a product is ‘ranged’ in. We are confident that this change to the synthesised Stores Ranged metric will ensure SKUtrak more accurately reflects each product's distribution within the Co-op estate.

Understanding the impact

From our analysis, the biggest change will be seen for those SKUs that aren’t in full distribution, but there may be a small degree of change even for those SKUs with high distribution.

We have restated all the data for the below metrics:

  • Stores Ranged
  • Availability %
  • Lost Sales Value
  • Rate of Sale Value/Volume (using Stores Ranged)

If you have used any of these metrics since May 2025, we recommend you restate them .

If your organisation uses SKUtrak Share to feed data directly into other systems which use any of the above metrics, we recommend you re-run those processes to ensure any downstream systems contain the best possible data. If you make use of the data update timestamp in your extraction logic, you should expect a large amount of data to be returned the first time you run your extraction processes, following the release of this fix.

Should you have any questions about the impact or need assistance from us, please do get in contact with Customer Success (skutrak-cs@gocrisp.com), who will ensure you get the right support.

Overview of Changes

What changed?

Co-op stopped conducting Gap Scans after the 10th of May, with the final data feed being 11th May. Gap Scan data is used to calculate the availability metric within SKUtrak. As a result, availability data within SKUtrak stopped updating after the 11th of May.

What is the solution?

We  have developed a new availability metric to replace the discontinued gap scan-based metric. This updated metric is derived from existing store stock data available within the current data feed.

How does it work?

The availability metric is calculated in three steps:

  1. Estimate ranged stores
Co-op doesn’t provide store-level ranging data, so we estimate it using stock and sales. If a product has both stock and sales in a store within the past 3 weeks, we consider it ranged in that store.

  2. Count stocked stores
For each product, we count how many of its ranged stores currently have stock (stock > 0).

  3. Calculate availability
We divide the number of stocked stores by the number of ranged stores to get the availability percentage.

Historical data for this metric has been generated for all your products at Co-op, and it fully replaces the now-deprecated gap scan-based metric in SKUtrak.

We are pleased to confirm that this availability data metric restores the several affected areas of the SKUtrak service for Co-op including Dashboards and Exports.

Please note due to the above noted changes, the following metrics will no longer update for Co-op within SKUtrak Share:

  • ORG_STORES_UNAVAILABLE
  • ORG_STORES_AVAILABLE
