Summary of the impact of Co-op ceasing their Gap Scan and discontinuing the SKUtrak availability data feed.
Overview of Changes
What changed?
Co-op stopped conducting Gap Scans after the 10th of May, with the final data feed being 11th May. Gap Scan data is used to calculate the availability metric within SKUtrak. As a result, availability data within SKUtrak stopped updating after the 11th of May.
What is the solution?
We are pleased to confirm that we have developed a new availability metric to replace the discontinued gap scan-based metric. This updated metric is derived from existing store stock data available within the current data feed.
How does it work?
The availability metric is calculated in three steps:
- Estimate ranged stores
Co-op doesn’t provide store-level ranging data, so we estimate it using stock and sales. If a product has both stock and sales in a store within the past 3 weeks, we consider it ranged in that store. - Count stocked stores
For each product, we count how many of its ranged stores currently have stock (stock > 0). - Calculate availability
We divide the number of stocked stores by the number of ranged stores to get the availability percentage.
Our analysis indicates that this new metric is a reliable, accurate, and responsive measure of product availability in Co-op stores. Historical data for this metric has been generated for all your products at Co-op, and it fully replaces the now-deprecated gap scan-based metric in SKUtrak.
We are pleased to confirm that this availability data metric restores the several affected areas of the SKUtrak service for Co-op including Dashboards and Exports.
Please note due to the above noted changes, the following metrics will no longer update for Co-op within SKUtrak Share:
- ORG_STORES_UNAVAILABLE
- ORG_STORES_AVAILABLE
