Waste Report

Learn how to use the Waste Report dashboard

The Waste Report is a Lite plan feature.

The Waste Report helps you stay on top of your product's waste levels. See waste trends by category, subcategory, brand and SKU across key reporting periods. Use it to:

  • Identify high-wasting SKUs which may be at risk of a delist.

  • See how waste levels change, and measure the improvements caused by your interventions.

Setting up the dashboard

The dashboard gives you four configuration options in the top bar, from left to right:

  • Waste Type: Where available for the retailer, choose between Bin, Reduced to Clear or total waste
  • Selected metric: change the metric shown in all of the charts on-screen. The default setting is Waste Volume.
  • %age or Actual: Show Percentage Waste or Actual Waste.
  • Product Grouping: change whether the bottom table shows Categories, Subcategories, Brands or individual SKUs. The default setting is SKU.
  • Time breakdown: the time period to be used for comparison and display on the time series. The default setting is Year to Date.

💡 Depending on your selection, the time series will adapt to display the relevant contextual dates as follows:

  • Year to date by week when Year to date is chosen.
  • 52 weeks by week when 52 weeks or 12 weeks are selected.
  • 28 days by day when 4 weeks, Last Full week, Week to Date, and Latest day are chosen.
  • Comparison: the period selected to compare against. The default setting is 'vs Last Year'. If 'Previous' is selected, the selected time period will be compared against the directly preceding period of the same length.

What's on screen

There are three types of components on-screen, from top to bottom:

  • KPI tiles: the KPI summary tiles along the top show the total for the selected metric over the different time periods, as well as the percentage variance from the comparison period.
  • Time series: the time series shows the selected metric, with the current year in blue and the comparison period shaded in grey.
  • Bottom table: the table shows the selected metric over each available time period, sorted by your selected time breakdown. The colour shows the variance from the comparison time period. Hover over a cell for more information.
